TERRAIN PRESENTATION
A new map, the terrain work was done in the summer of 2022. The map maker is Jukka Sakki.
A typical Kymenlaakso economic forest with several different stages of tree growth. Quite gentle in its height differences and terrain. Canvas terrain, which also has dense bushes and, of course, various thinnings (the latest ones were made after the completion of the map) and fellings, as well as more lush areas. The area is gravel terrain, so the difference between boulders and knolls is faint. The boulders that are completely or almost completely covered with moss are described as knolls.
A knoll - not a boulder
In some places there are so many boulders that they had to be depicted on the map as boulder cluster and several adjacent of boulder clusters. If there are a lot of boulders that remain below the limit, they are described as boulder field, as in this case also the individual boulder that over the limit. These are described with the symbol 210 stony ground. There are plenty of boulders in the terrain that are just below this limit and are therefore not on the map.

The specialty of the terrain is the number of small depressions and pits. On the side of the hill area opposite Russia, there are many excavated pits, which are old pottery. They are from the period of Swedish rule before the 1st World War. In some places, large excavated pits are right next to others, and it has not been possible to describe them all on the map. In addition, there are many test pits of different sizes from the search for gravel in the terrain. The biggest ones are on the map, but there are many small pits that are not on the map. Long pits, which are usually located in groups of a few pits, may also be trap pits. We don't think they are graves reserved for landing parties. Of these, only the largest and most obvious ones are on the map. Groups of several dimples are described with the symbol 113 broken ground.
Tar pits are marked with symbol 530, which is a black circle. A tar pit is a round pit, the edges of which are higher than the surrounding ground surface. In some cases, at the edge of the pit, the point of the gutter, i.e. the tar drop opening, is clearly distinguished.
The tracks where can be seen clear tractor wheel or tracked track are shown on the map - OR the track stands out very visible as a treeless strip, even if there are no longer any traces of the machine on the ground are also shown on the map. All routes are described with the symbol 508 ride. The yellow color has not been used to describe the drivers.
